Privacy policy
This policy covers the haroldware.games website and 8-Bit News, a 24/7 comedy video game news livestream on the Harold the Cat Games YouTube channel (youtube.com/@HaroldtheCatGames). Haroldware Solutions Kft., Szeged, Hungary, runs both. Contact: hello@haroldware.games.
The 8-Bit News uploader and Google user data
8-Bit News uses the YouTube Data API to upload short clips of the show to our own channel. The uploader is an internal tool. Only Haroldware staff sign in to it, and only with the account that owns the Harold the Cat Games channel. It is not offered to the public, and it never asks anyone else to sign in with Google.
- What it accesses: one OAuth scope,
youtube.upload, which lets it upload videos to our channel. It does not read your YouTube account, your subscriptions, your watch history, your email address or your contacts. - What it stores: the OAuth access and refresh token for our own channel, kept in a file readable only by its owner on our production computer, and a log of the videos it uploaded (video ID, title, time).
- How it uses the data: only to upload 8-Bit News clips to our channel and set their title, description and category.
- Sharing: we do not sell, share or transfer data received from Google APIs to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising or to train AI models.
Haroldware's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
8-Bit News uses YouTube API Services. By watching or interacting with our videos on YouTube, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles your data under the Google Privacy Policy. Anyone who granted an app access to a Google account can revoke it at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Live chat on the stream
The show reads the public live chat of its own broadcast so viewers can ask the anchors questions and vote in polls. It sees only what YouTube shows every viewer: your display name, your message and when you sent it.
- Messages that start with
!askare screened by an AI model for safety. A question that passes may be read on air, together with your display name. If the name is unsuitable for broadcast, the anchors say "a viewer" instead. - Messages that say
1or2during a poll count as one vote per display name. - To screen questions and write the show's scripts, we send the question text and display name to Anthropic, our AI provider, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train models on that data.
- We keep the chat text on our production computer to run the show, and a list of the message IDs we already handled so the same question does not air twice. We do not build profiles of viewers and we do not sell chat data.
- Questions that air become part of the broadcast and of any clips cut from it.
If you want a message of yours removed from our files, or a clip that reads it taken down, email hello@haroldware.games with your display name and the approximate time.
